How do you get rid of Oleander plants?

We moved into a house that has some out of control oleander plants. We also have a dog so I'm worried about the fact that they're poisonous. I've tried cutting them and digging the root out but I guess I did it wrong because they all came back. Does anyone know the best way to get rid of oleander plants?

Your dog won't eat them.. Don't get rid of them, they are beautiful. Your dog will be fine, I promise
Reply:Oleander grows very tall, then leans over. It also drops many flowers everywhere. My one neighbor had it, and it filled my yard with flower debris. My other neighbor has it, won't cut it, and it now blocks my ocean view completely. I don't like it at all. Report It

Reply:Oleander is listed on the ASPCA website for posionus plants. I'm trying to get rid of my oleander for the same reason. We cut ours down and it's growing back! If you've figured out a way to get rid of your plant, please let me know! Report It
