Do I cut back my snow burned oleander?

I have a couple of oleander bushes that got badly snow burned during this past winters crazy storms. They are still green at the bases with new growth but the tips are completely dead. My question is is do I trim the bushes all the way back or just the tips or just leave it alone. I live in zone 8

You will find the stems are damaged as well as the leaves. Oleanders are very tough, in my area people regularly chop the top half the bush away to encourage lush bushes.





The dead bits won't recover. Just cut all the dead looking stems back to where they are green and healthy, don't worry if the leaves on the green stems are dead. If the prune is quite severe don't worry it will recover. Good luck

Reply:once they are absolutely brown and dead, yes, trim them down. Look at the stems you trim off, if they are hollow looking, trim them down farther, until they look green.
