Has anyone seen the movie, "White Oleander"?

I have a comp exam for my master's and it deals with the movie, White Oleander. I need to counsel the daughter. Any suggestions on counseling themes or theories to use? Any advice at all would be totally appreciated!!

Has anyone seen the movie, "White Oleander"?
why not rent the movie and watch it.
Reply:We are all responsible for our own destiny, despite traumatic childhood experiences. While we can never really "get over" this abuse, we must accept the scars of the past and learn to make the most out of our lives.

In counseling her, I would avoid any methods that make her out to be a victim of her circumstances. She is now old enough to take care of herself and has a responsibility to fulfill her purpose. Activities where she can put others first (esp. people in worse circumstances, charities, etc.) will do best to heal any residual wounds.

Basically everyone in this girls life uses her some way for their own benefit.

She seems to deal with it by releasing her anger thru her art.

Not sure how one would consel someone who had been used by so many people and by her own Mom.
