Question about Books?

I read White Oleander, and i fel inlove with that book, now i'm looking for something like it, about strong powerful women, or children in foster homes, and just really powerfull books.

Question about Books?
Strong women:

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath (she doesn't start out strong, but she gets there)

She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb

The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne

The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan

Powerful books:

To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway

I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb

anything by Virginia Woolf, although she is difficult to read

Hope you find something you like, be it on my list or not!

Reply:If you're looking for a young adult book written at about the Harry Potter level with strong female characters I would recommend King Fortis the Brave. Aimee and Gillian are both strong, important characters.
Reply:try Siries of unfortunate events these books are about mystery children in foster homes and alot more i couldnt put the books down
Reply:The Life of Pi made me so amazed at the end. Its really good, one of the few books I read twice. Its about an Indian boy that gets stuck with a tiger on a lifeboat. If you cant stand sorta descriptive writing on dead things and stuff to do with basic survival, then it might not be the best to read, even if its super good.
Reply:Christy by Catherine Marshall

The Joy Luck Club

All the Way Home by Tatlock

The Blue Bottle Club

A Woman Called Damaris by Janette Oke

Warriors Don't Cry-the autobio of Melba Peals

umm...anything by Sarah Dessen is good, her books aren't really like White Oleander but you'd definitely like them...Especially Someone like you, this lullaby, keeping the moon, and the truth about forever.

Where the heart is by Billie Letts, again not exactly the same, but it's good

The Secret life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
