White Oleander morals? Life lessons?

Just curious

White Oleander morals? Life lessons?
I wouldn't say life lessons. But the book certainly brought up a wide range of societal issues and how they impact american youth. Essentially the book chronicales an innocent childs emotional turmoil as she experiences the very worst american society has to offer (muder, sexual molestation, violence, abuse, starvation, poverty etc) She has these experiences while in foster care - a system that is fundamentally flawed and has short-changed America's oprhans. The books purpose is to highlight a growing societal problem through the eyes of one of it's victims.
Reply:Well I thought it was sad, and in some parts depressing but I can't say I got any life lessons out of it. It wasn't a bad read tho.
