Do dogs know not to eat oleander plants?

We put some in our yard and I know they are poisonous. A lot of people have them and I never hear of pets eating them, but my dog eats strange things sometimes. Has anyone ever seen dogs chew on oleanders or do they just stay away?

Dogs have no idea if something is poison or not.If it smells good, tastes good,or if they are bored, they might eat away.If they knew what was poison, they wouldn't drink antifreeze, eat rat poison,or any of the other things that so many pets die from ingesting every year.
Reply:No, unfortunately not. Dogs sometimes eat grass coz they cannot digest it, so it helps them get rid of accumulated stuff in their GI tract. But they cannot really distinguish. Be careful!
Reply:How would they "know"? They're dogs, they don't know anything.
Reply:Umm its a dog. It doesnt know whats right from wrong when eating anything.
